Our next Meet the Maker event is here this Friday and this time we will be hosting Moritz Bak, a Balham local turned award-winning winemaker now based in Roussillon, France.
Moritz’ passion for wine was sparked whilst spending summers in the South of France as a child with his grandfather. This led him from Balham to Brighton’s Plumpton College followed by an impressive resume of brands and vintages throughout some of the most presitigious winemaking regions in the USA, South Africa, France, New Zealand, Germany and Australia in he USA, South Africa, France, New Zealand, Germany, and Australia.
By 2014 he was ready to break out on his own and create his own premier vintage and 4 years later he acquired a 14 hectare vineyard and winery in the village of Maury in the Roussillon region. Since then, his wines have garnered a worldwide following and Res Fortes wines have achieved critical acclaim from Decanter, IWSC, Wine Enthusiast, and other reputable publications,as well as winning Silver and Gold medals at the Global Rosé Masters and the San Francisco International Wine Festivals.
